Actroid DER2 fembot

Kokoro a division of Sanrio which specializes in robotics has unveiled the Actroid DER2 fembot a successor to the Actroid DER. The Actroid DER2 is a bit thinner and can deliver more expressions, in fact she is so lifelike that you might mistake her for an actual human being. Its limbs, torso and facial expressions are controlled by a system of actuators powered by pneumatic pressure. She can even choreograph her motions and gestures with her voice.

Though not for sale you can rent out the Actroid DER2 fembot for around 400,000 yen (US$3,500) for 5 days.

    This is very cool technologically, but did they have to select such a weird looking female? They could have made her a lot more pretty. This is a huge mistake and will actually harm the popularity of this robot.

    Well, nice, I guess. Though it still has balancing problems. However, this doesn't look like a forty-year advance over the old Disney "Audioanimatronics" Mr. Lincoln. Some more moves (especially in the neck) but, darn, it should be able to bow without rocking back and forth!

    can we get some subtitles? or at least a translated transcription? it should be much more humourous this way, and will detract from the (already pointed out) "huge palm" problem.

    It's kinda creepy, a few improvements, and you'd never know if the cute receptionist is even human...

    wow that's pretty crazy, I wonder if it's all pre programmed stuff or if there is any AI involved... Also do you think there are optical receptors? I mean it's pretty cool to have build a robot that moves and looks like that but it would REALLY be something amazig if it had some form of AI with it...

    heh, I suppose it's one step closer to persicons.. :p

    Why are her teeth yellowish? I assume robots don't eat so staining shouldn't be a problem.

    Kokoro is working on an AI for the Actroid series & it does have some sort of sensor on it at least in the way that is supposed to be able to keep eye contact... actually it will be alot better when they fix the shakey movements and add some lower body movements as of yet the actroid cannot walk or keep its balance by itself *just a comment to all the sex freaks out there* I realize your lonely but it doesnt mean u have to undermind technological advancement for your own perverted fantisies.

    Are you joking? perverted fantasies are what DRIVES technology. Just imagine the motivation for all those sex deprived Japanese scientists! What a reward ^_^

    And all the business men who would no longer be getting sued by real women for rape. It would also pretty much doom the human race.
