Acer unveils EZ1600 and Z5600 all-in-one desktops

Acer.JPG Acer has unveiled two new all-in-one desktop PCs that vary from the economic and functional, to the extreme yet sexy. At the budget end, the eMachines EZ1600 packs nettop hardware, while the more interesting Acer Aspire Z5600 gets a grown-up Intel processor, graphics and 1080p performance through a multitouch-capable 24-inch display. The EZ1600 features an 18.5-inch screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio, with support for 720p video resolution. The device uses an Atom N270 processor paired with the 945GSE chipset, along with a 160GB hard drive, DVD burner and Wi-Fi. Two slots are available for SO DIMM memory, while color options will include silver and black.

The higher-end Aspire Z5600 touts a 24-inch multitouch display capable of 1080p resolution. Detailed specifications have yet to be announced, but the system should run on the "latest generation" of Intel components, with hard drive options up to 2TB. The device will also offer a TV tuner, webcam and DVD/Blu-ray writer. Acer has yet to announce the details for price or actual shipment for the devices.
