KDDI have taken a step forward in the field of wireless technology with the development of a new kind of microSD card. Actually there are two cards, manufactured by Mitsumi Electric Co Ltd and Renesas Technology Corp respectively. Both these cards are capable of connecting with WLAN. The technology isn’t too complicated either; the cards are mounted with wireless LAN IC compliant with IEEE802.11b/g, a transceiving antenna and lots of other stuff. Transmission of data can be made a lot easier with this technology in the happening. Hopefully, will be spared with the necessity of carrying cables for data transmission.
The Mitsumi Electric card uses “AR6002” LAN IC while Renesas Technology uses “KS21”. The basis of this move seems as strong as the market it promises. There’s no final release date yet.
