The 50 Best Video Game Easter Eggs Ever
Sometimes, as much fun as a video game can be in itself, those little hidden surprises, Easter Eggs as gamers call them do add a little something extra to the package. Of course there really aren’t too many in each game and in some case probably just one, but Complex.com managed to find 50 of the best Easter Eggs in games and here are a few of my favorites.
My first one is this oddity form Portal that’s available on PC, 360 and PS3. If you’re paying close attention to the monitor on the second last level of the game you’ll actually see a recipe for cake scrolling along. It’s just plain weird but perhaps the designer just had it in his head and wanted to share the recipe with the world. Anyone who’s seen this and tried the recipe let me know how it turned out please.
My second choice was from Ratchet and Clank for the PS2. There’s a way that you can seriously impress the Race Girl before starting off a hoverboard race in Blackwater and you’ll know she’s impressed. By doing a series of backflips over her for awhile and pay close attention, you’ll see that here… ahem… chest get’s considerably larger. I wonder who thought this one up.
Now here’s one that I aim to try out as soon as I’m done uploading this post. In Batman: Arkham Asylum, when you’re in the Warden’s office there’s a wall that doesn’t get highlighted to show it can be broken down. However if you use your explosive gel and take it down a secret room is unveiled that’s got a few things that are possibly related to Batman: Arkham City, the much awaited sequel. A couple of concept art images and a Gotham City Map are available but I’m going to look harder for to see if I can come up with more.
