4G services launched with TeliaSonera in Sweden and Norway
4G is here! That’s right we’re talking super speeds and a whole lot of connectivity. Of course there aren’t too many handsets equipped to handle that just yet not that there won’t be in the blink of an eye. But more importantly the provider who’s the first to introduce the new wave of connectivity is TeliaSonera. The first customers will be the guys up there in Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway. What this means besides the upgrade in speed of course is a whole lot more like advanced web TV broadcasting, extensive online gaming and web conferences. TeliaSonera has three nation-wide 4G/LTE licenses; in Sweden, Norway and also recently in Finland. The network roll out is in progress to offer 4G to Sweden's and Norway's largest cities. The Stockholm 4G city network is supplied by Ericsson. The Oslo 4G city network is supplied by Huawei. The modems at launch come from Samsung. Of course this far south in India, we’re still dealing with 2G, what can I say.
